Local Area Information
There are so many things to do in Little Haven and the rest of Pembrokeshire for all ages and interests:
- Day trips can include taking a boat to Skomer, Skokholm or Grassholm Islands to see the seals, puffins and other marine birds and wildlife that thrive in these incredibly beautiful environments.
- The Pembrokeshire Coast Path provides wonderful walking opportunities - all 186 miles of it - in all seasons, which in this part of Wales, you may sometimes feel like you get in one day! The footpath goes through the village and is well serviced by the Puffin Shuttle, so that visitors can walk a stretch of the path and return on the bus, or take the bus and walk back to the cottage. Walk south to St. Bride's Haven or north to Druidston Haven and Newgale. The panoramic views are simply stunning.
- Cycling is another fantastic way to explore. Follow the circular Haven's Trail to Haverfordwest, passing Roch Castle along the way or choose from the many off-road trails at the Stackpole Estate.
- Spend a leisurely day in Narberth or St. Davids (Wales' smallest city) browsing shops, antiques shops and galleries after a delicious lunch or coffee in one of the many excellent cafes. Take time for peaceful reflection in the magnificent St. Davids Cathedral.
- Admire the gardens at Picton Castle or immerse yourself in the history of Pembroke Castle - the birthplace of Henry VII.
- Don't miss the isolated beauty of St. Govan's Chapel and the Bosherston Lily Ponds.
- Admire the natural beauty of Stackpole and the world famous Barafundle Beach, considered the jewel in the crown in Pembrokeshire and often featured in lists of the best beaches in the world.
- Enjoy family fun at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. This popular attraction has grown from a family-run farm to a respected participant in the conservation of the Eastern Black Rhino, amongst other more exotic animal species.
- Clerkenhill Adventure Farm & Frizbee Golf Course, the Blue Lagoon Water park, Oakwood Theme Park (open between Easter and October half-term) and The Dinosaur Park, Tenby are also firm family favourites.
- Go crabbing from the Harbour walls in Solva.
- Enjoy an ice cream at Pointz Castle ice cream farm.
- Golf, horse-riding and fishing are all accessible nearby.
- Fridays are market day in Haverfordwest. Fishguard has a regular market on Thursdays and a Farmer's market on Saturdays and Tenby's market is 6 days a week except for July and August when it runs every day.
